Ode to the Ag Teacher

Here’s to those who do more than advise

stationed by the owl, knowledgeable and wise.

Women and men who mold young minds

and have the patience to teach all kinds.

Thank you for showing us how to be humble,

to celebrate our victories and help when we stumble.

For all the times we’ve driven across the state

and learned that the yield sign means “WAIT”

Thank you for your time, countless hours and days

you spend helping us grow in so many ways–

building our skills guiding SAEs

or preparing us to give that speech with ease.

You’ve made us see that to do what is right

will not always be easy but is worth the fight.

Dear ag teachers, thank you for all that you do,

We would not be who we are without people like you.

In honor of Teach Ag Day, I’d like to extend a special thank you to my advisors, Mr. Lister, Mrs. Gabbert, and Mrs. Meals. Words cannot express how grateful I am for each of you.
