Ritual Career Development Event

Purpose

The purpose of the career development event is to develop public speaking skills, promote the proper presentation and delivers of Official FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as outlined by the Official FFA Manual, and to promote the proper identity and standards of Official Dress as outlined by the Official FFA Manual.

Format

  1. Each team will be comprised of six active FFA members. Each team will consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, and Sentinel. Advisor -- A student advisor may take the role of the advisor for the competition. The advisor part will not be scored, whether or not it is performed by a student.
  2. Two chapters from each district will advance to the state competition.
  3. The CDE will be held in two rounds at the state level. All teams compete during round one with the four highest placing teams advancing to round two. Round two will be held directly following the announcement top four teams.
  4. All team members will be in official dress; according to the Official FFA Manual.

      • White Collared Blouse
      • Black Skirt - at least knee length, hemmed evenly across the bottom, with a slit no longer than 2 inches above the knee, excluding the kick pleat
      • Black Nylon Hosiery
      • Black Dress Shoes with Closed Heel and Toe
    • Male Official Dress
      • Official FFA Jacket - zipped to the top
      • Official FFA Tie
      • White Collared Shirt
      • Black Slacks
      • Black Socks
      • Black Dress Shoes
  5. After the members enter the room, the President will seat the members and begin the presentation.
  6. At the conclusion of the Opening Ceremonies, the team will proceed directly into Closing Ceremonies. The teams shall make no other items of business or transitional statements between opening and closing ceremony.
  7. There is no time limit for the team’s demonstrations.
  8. Teams may not rearrange officer stations. All teams will sit in the same order (Advisor, Reporter, Vice-President, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Sentinel) from left to right as seen by the judges.
  9. A CDE coordinator and three judges will be in charge of this event. One of the three judges will be designated as the accuracy judge.
  10. The winning team of the event will present Opening Ceremonies at the Second Session of the State FFA Convention.›
