PLAINVILLE, Kan. – In conjunction with the Kansas FFA Foundation, Heartland Regional Stockyards, Inc. will hold the 2nd Annual FFA Special Sale on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the sale facility in Plainville, Kan..

The auction will feature a weigh-up sale beginning at 10:00am and feeder calf and yearling calf sale at noon. A complimentary meal, sponsored by E&E Ag Insurance and Hubbard Feeds, will be served to all farmers and ranchers following the weigh-up sale served by area FFA members. The yearling and feeder calf sale will start at approximately 12:00pm.

Sellers and buyers can help support the FFA organization by donating  $1 per head or more on their consignment, or make a flat rate contribution. Monies will be split between the Kansas FFA Foundation and the local Kansas FFA Chapter of the donors choosing. Heartland Regional Stockyards has committed to matching all per-head contributions for the day, doubling the impact of the support.

The sale was the concept of Brandon Hamel and Lloyd Schneider of Heartland Regional Stockyards with the desire to support Kansas FFA at the state and local levels.

“The FFA is one of the most important youth organizations available to high school students today,” Schneider said. “The organization teaches today’s youth skills that they will need to be successful in their future. Public speaking, leadership development, business skills, and more are taught in agricultural education. Our team at HRS is excited to partner with the Kansas FFA Foundation again on the 2nd annual special sale.”

Beth Gaines, executive director of the Kansas FFA Foundation, echoes Schneider’s sentiments. “We are grateful for the vision of the team at Heartland Regional Stockyards to expand the resources available for the Kansas FFA and local chapters. The agriculture industry supporting agricultural education and the Kansas FFA is how we make opportunities and resources available to FFA members. Last year’s sale benefited Kansas FFA and 14 local FFA Chapters and we cannot wait to see that support rise this year.”

This year will also feature an opportunity for Kansas FFA members to gain more expertise in the cattle industry with an educational session at the event provided by Foote Cattle Company. FFA chapters can sign up for this event by contacting Johanna Anderes, Kansas FFA Foundation.

Additional sponsorship opportunities are available for the sale. Agriculture businesses, seedstock operations, and individuals can participate in the event and be recognized as a sponsor. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Johanna Anderes, Kansas FFA Foundation at [email protected] or 785-410-7313.
