Chapters in Good Standing

What does it mean to be in Good Standing for Kansas FFA Association?

The language in Good Standing is the terminology used to indicate the status for participation of both members and chapters, as well as a agricultural education program’s ability to receive Perkins funding is the represented in the state and national constitutions.

Chapters must submit the following items in the multi-step process to remain in Good Standing within the state association. We have separated these items into “tasks” that include the following deadlines:

Membership Roster – September 30*
  • Electronically submitted to the state level via FFA.org on or before September 30*
Membership Dues – October 15*
  • If an annual dues paying chapter, invoice will be generated and sent to the chapter advisor electronically. Chapters will also receive a hard copy of the invoice with membership cards.
  • If an Affiliate chapter, invoices will be generated based upon the previous years membership and sent electronically by August 15 annually. Chapters will also receive a hard copy of the invoice with membership cards.
  • Payments are due to the State FFA Office on October 15
    • Kansas FFA Association, 110 Umberger Hall, 1632 Claflin Road, Manhattan KS  66506
Program of Activities – October 15*

The Program of Activities (POA) is a required document that serves as a road map for chapter members at the local level. Each chapter turns their POA into the State Association, and it ensures that chapters are accomplishing their goals and meeting the needs of members and community. The purpose of the Program of Activities is to give a reference for members to look up questions about the chapter.

  • A chapters previously submitted POAs are attached to the chapter profile in FFA.org – Program/ Chapter Data – Documents
  • Can be submitted one of the two ways by October 15:
    • Emailed to the State FFA Office
    • Uploaded to chapter profile on FFA.org – Program/ Chapter Data – Documents
Annual Report – May 20*

The accuracy of the data collected is important for the State FFA Office to complete the Annual Report submitted on behalf of the state association to National FFA. It is even more important to Kansas Agricultural Education to validate what is occurring in the local programs. Several times the data from previous surveys reviewed to help an instructor with extended contract opportunities/challenges, assist the Foundation sharing sponsorship opportunities, or develop a fact sheet showcasing the relevance of agricultural education/ FFA.

ALL teachers in the agricultural education department will need to complete the survey by May 20th for your FFA chapter to be in Good Standing. There is only one survey – if you are the only teacher or the lead teacher in your program you will be directed to complete the entire survey. In programs where there is more than one instructor the other instructor(s) will be directed to the Teacher Status portion of the survey.

Annual Report

*If the deadline falls during a weekend or holiday the due date will be the first business day following the date due.

As items are submitted, the “Chapters in Good Standing” will be updated. Please do not be alarmed if you submitted an item and you immediately look at your chapter to see that it’s not marked, yet. We place the date in each cell manually as we verify submissions. You can check your chapters’ good standing status here, selecting your district. You will see your chapter’s status indicated by the symbols next to the chapter name or you can click on the chapter name allowing you to see the actual date when information was received.

Please note chapters that are not in good standing will ineligible to participate in the State CDEs hosted by K-State College of Agriculture voted upon by the KAAE membership approving the State CDE Committee report at 2013 Summer Conference. If, however, the “Good Standing Due Items” (complete membership & dues, POA, and Annual Report information) are not submitted by the respective deadlines a $50 late fee will be incurred for each deadline missed. All fees must be paid before the chapter can be in good standing.
