Turning the Page

Blog

“There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.”

In life we are faced with many paths to take and decisions to make. When it came time for running for State Office, I had to think about how much I wanted it. Was I ready to close the book? Or was I intent on turning the page.

I think this pandemic has put so many of us in this situation when we were least expecting it. The book was closed so many times before I was ready for it too, my senior softball season, time with my classmates, and my high school career of FFA. And although these moments were temporarily closed, I found new ways to open them.

Sometimes turning the page becomes a much more difficult task than simply closing the book. Don’t let outside factors dictate whether you decide to advance in your decisions or not. Take charge of your life. If you want to move forward, push yourself to do so. Make the decisions that are best for you as an individual.

In an opposite way, sometimes it is time to move onto something different. If it is time to open up a new book, being able to identify that opportunity is a great strength to have. Do not be afraid to start a whole new story. There are occasions when we have spent so much time writing in one book, that we forget there are hundreds more that we can work on. Having a full bookcase means you have so many stories to look back on. Embrace the change, and don’t be afraid to move on.

Do not be afraid to make the wrong decision either. Sometimes it takes us closing the book and thinking on it, to know that it wasn’t the last chapter. Sometimes the story has an odd way of continuing. It all comes down to the timing of the book itself in your life.

When you get to the bottom of a page, will you turn it, or close the whole book?
